What I did

Run Project Hope's fundraising; all proceeds go toward school for kids in rural China and Hong Kong.

  • Led the weekly committee meeting to share Chinese heritage and culture through Jeopardies, brainstorm fundraiser ideas like in the Mystery Chef, and plan and execute fundraisers
  • Helped reach 35 kids through pen pal letters
What is Project Hope

Project Hope (希望工程) at Cornell is a student org that raises money and awareness for kids' education in rural China and Hong Kong.

We fundraise across the Cornell and Ithaca community, and the money goes to our partner schools. Members also write worksheets, film lessons, and become pen pals with the students, so it's a real relationship, not just a donation.

Save Cantonese

Volunteer

To me, Cantonese isn't just a language. It's an irreplaceable pillar of Hong Kong culture, and I couldn't just sit there and watch it die due to politics or simply the drift of time. So I joined Save Cantonese as a volunteer. I translated between Cantonese, Mandarin and English, and created teaching materials on the history and current state of Cantonese.
